Peel It Back
Take it one step at a time
okay so now that you know your power is found in the darkness and you've gotta get triggered to find your power, how long does it take?
well, i can tell you that pampering and coddling yourself isn't going to add to your strength. it's going to keep you weak. it's going to keep you comfortable and reliant on outside sources for your comfort.
accommodations? trigger warnings? PC speech? misinformation warnings? censored social media? special treatment? it's all a false sense of importance.
why do you need the whole world to bend to you to think you're important? why don't you bend to your own needs? go within yourself and ask why you are the way that you are.
it's okay. you're perfect the way you are, but if there's something you want to change, get curious with yourself so you can learn from it.
think you have ADHD? news flash - humans are made to be creative and chaotic. we're not designed to sit at a desk from 9-5 and focus on what other people tell us to focus on. Maybe your attention keeps pulling you to what's fun because your soul is yearning to play. and why would that be a bad thing?
in order to find the most powerful version of yourself, you're going to have to build your courage one step at a time.
look at all the ways you're coddling yourself and expecting the world to coddle you. take away one today. just one. find how strong you are without that crutch. you might surprise yourself.
it's not about ripping all the bandaids at once, but if you keep protecting yourself layer upon layer, you'll bury the power that's within you to create the life you desire.
take your time. go one step at a time. but accept all parts of yourself and learn to work with them, not against them
Lyrics:
How long will it take to find your strength?
Not by waiting, not by ease.
Pampering yourself won’t make you whole,
Comfort zones won’t fill your soul.
Accommodations, censored streams,
Trigger warnings, softened dreams.
Why bend the world to meet your needs,
When your own courage is what sets you free?
Take it one step at a time,
Feel the power that’s been inside.
Drop a crutch, peel back a layer,
You’ll find your strength—it’s always there.
No quick fixes, no map to guide, The answers are found when you look inside.
Move with purpose, let courage chime, Your power builds, one step at a time.
Think you’re broken, need a fix?
Look inside, not outside tricks.
ADHD? Or is your soul just wild?
Yearning to play, unchained, your style?
We’re not made to follow rules,
To sit in desks, to fit in schools.
You’re chaotic, creative, and free—
Why fight the way you’re meant to be?
It’s okay to be as you are,
But if you want change, look to your heart.
Get curious, ask yourself why,
Your truth is there, you don’t need to hide.
(Chorus repeats with added harmonies)
Take it one step at a time,
Feel the power that’s been inside.
Drop a crutch, peel back a layer,
You’ll find your strength—it’s always there.
No quick fixes, no map to guide, The answers are found when you look inside.
Move with purpose, let courage chime, Your power builds, one step at a time.
You don’t need the world to bend,
To prove your worth, to let it mend.
Bend to your own needs, find your way,
Your power’s waiting every day.
Take away just one today,
See how strong you are, okay?
You’ll surprise yourself, feel the spark,
The courage to step out of the dark.
(Chorus repeats with a celebratory lift)
Take it one step at a time,
Feel the power that’s been inside.
Drop a crutch, peel back a layer,
You’ll find your strength—it’s always there.
No quick fixes, no map to guide, The answers are found when you look inside.
Move with purpose, let courage chime, Your power builds, one step at a time.
(Outro with a steady, triumphant fade-out)
Layer by layer, piece by piece,
Your courage grows, your strength released.
One step closer, you’ll come to see,
The powerful self you’re meant to be.

Well, well Miss Jacqui you seem to be saying something directly to me, at least that's how I immediately took it; a sense of knowing you weren't actually yet something I definitely needed to hear.
Once again my young friend, you have taught this "old dog a new trick". Thank you dear young "soul sister" for helping me to navigate life and see things that I don't see. Namaste 🙏🏻 🕊️❤️✨
